Scripture To Consider:
“I, Jesus, have sent My angel to testify to you these things in the churches. I am the Root and the Offspring of David, the Bright and Morning Star.”
“And the Spirit and the bride say, ‘Come!’ And let him [or her] who hears say, come! And let him [or her] who thirsts come. Whoever desires, let him [or her] take the water of life freely.”
“For I [John] testify to everyone who hears the words of the prophecy of this book; if anyone adds to these things, God will add to him [or her] the plagues that are written in this book; and if anyone takes away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his [or her] part from the Book of Life [so much for Once Saved Always Saved], from the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book.”
“He who testifies to these things says, ‘Surely I [Jesus] am coming quickly.’ Amen. Even so, come, Lord Jesus! The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all. Amen.” Revelation 22.16-21
Something To Consider:
In this final lesson 12 of the I am teachings of Jesus, we actually are introduced to four (4) I am teachings of Jesus. According to Jesus, 1) “I am the Root”, 2) “I am the Offspring of David”, 3) “I am the Bright and Morning Star”, and 4) “I am coming quickly”.
Jesus is the root of the tree of the true church. He is the root that has grown deep into the soil of true Christendom. Jesus was the live vine root that died upon an old rugged cross, was buried in a borrowed tomb, but who rose the third day to become the first born out of death root of true biblical Christianity.
Though the root is underground, unseen, and completely out of sight; it is the foundational source of food and nutrients, water, and that which gives upward stability and means of future fruit-filled growth to the tree, plant, or individual who has been spiritually born-again and receiving the growth producing water of the Word of God from Jesus the true root.
Something Else To Consider:
According to Jesus, “I am the Offspring of David”. David was according to God’s Word, a man after God’s own heart. As a human being, David was not a perfect man by no means. But he was an earthly example of a heavenly visitor to earth who would be the perfect man and yet God, and a perfect example of God’s own true heart.
What about us? Are we men and women and young people seeking after God’s own heart? Is God’s will, God’s agenda, our own will and our own agenda? As David, we too have to confess our falling short of God’s perfect will for our lives as did David often! And yet, as David, we too can be people in search of our pleasing God in order to become a part of the true offspring children of Jesus Christ within the family of God.
As true children of God, are we looking unto Jesus, the Offspring of David? Are we seeking first His kingdom? Are we seeking His righteousness in our lives, in our homes, and in this God-forsaking earth? Hopefully we are seeking His kingdom to come to earth as it is in heaven.
Something More To Consider:
Jesus also declared, “I am the Bright and Morning Star”. The New International version of the bible, as well as other recent versions, proclaim the words of Isaiah 14.12, speaking of Satan’s fall from heaven; “How you have fallen from heaven, morning star, son of the dawn! You have been cast down to the earth, you who once laid low the nations.”
Satan, Lucifer, the devil, is referred to in the Word of God, as the morning star. But Jesus refers to Himself as, “The Bright and Morning Star”. In other words, Satan is the dark side counterfeit morning star, whereas Jesus is the true Bright and Morning Star. One is full of darkness and evil. And the other, thank God, is full of light, grace, truth, and that which is good!
Satan, also named the prince of the air, is as the counterfeit to Christ, a liar and the father of lies. From an earlier lesson we know Jesus as the way, the truth, and as the life! Jesus said in praying to God the Father, “Thy Word is truth”. And we know Jesus is the Word of God come to earth in the flesh according to John 1.14, full of grace and full of truth.
Therefore, the above leads us to Jesus’ final and very appropriate word or I am teaching. For according to Jesus, He is many things to the redeemed, to the rescued from the bondage to sin, and to the unburdened follower of Jesus Christ. But also, according to Jesus in our Scripture to consider, “I [Jesus] am coming quickly”.
I will refrain from revisiting the biblical timing aspect to this repeated again final I am teaching of Jesus that we thoroughly covered in lesson 11. But I find it most fascinating that this is Jesus’ final I am teaching He has left us in the completed canon of Scripture, except to repeat, “I [Jesus] am coming quickly”.
How often we forget, or worse, neglect the biblical references to the second coming of Jesus Christ. There are literally over one-hundred verses in the bible referring to the second coming of Christ. There are a little over a dozen verses in the bible relating to the first coming of Jesus, and half of those are in the gospels and not related to the prediction of His first coming but rather the reporting of the birth of Jesus.
Wow, there are over one-hundred verses concerning the second coming of Jesus and approx. twelve to sixteen verses concerning the first coming of Jesus. How significant to God is His revealing to His people this much important prophetic future predicting information revealing aspects of the second coming of Jesus Christ? Any wise person would conclude that the second coming of Jesus was and is extremely important!
A Few Final Words:
And yet, most of the traditional, organized, and institutionalized denominational so-called churches of Christendom, refuse to teach on the true biblical second coming of Jesus Christ. Instead, they feel more comfortable teaching an unbiblical pre-tribulation rapture theory that will in the end be that which offends the majority of the so-called church and lead many to departing from the faith and worse, betraying true believers in order to go along to get along with the end time established one world system led by the Antichrist.
But what is the alternative? The biblical record stands for itself! According to Jesus, “Immediately after the tribulation of those days [speaking of the days of the end times] shall the sun be darkened, and the moon shall not give her light, and the stars shall fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens shall be shaken.”
Those who see the cataclysmic end time events as described and predicted by Jesus, will no longer be found believing in a pre-tribulation rapture. They will understand that they will experience the end time events as spoken of by Jesus and recorded elsewhere in the Word of God. Of that there will be no doubt!
Now, will those who see these things come to pass be afforded the protection and the provisional care of God as true children and offspring of Jesus? Or as non-believers will most feel the full brunt force of the judgment and wrath of an Almighty and Holy God?
Jesus further states in verse 30 of Matthew chapter 24, “And then shall appear the sign of the Son of Man [Jesus] in heaven. And then all the tribes [ethnic groups of nations] of the earth shall mourn, and they shall see the Son of Man [Jesus] coming in the clouds of heaven with power and great glory [immediately after the tribulation of those days and not before]”.
“And He [Jesus, after the tribulation] shall send His angels with a great sound of a trumpet, and they shall gather together His elect [those obedient enduring to the end true saints alive on earth at that time] from the four winds [four corners of the earth according to Luke’s gospel], from one end of heaven to the other [those who have died in Christ].”
In Closing:
Therefore, will we be gathered together as His elect? Or will we be as the false fruitless branches to be removed, to be withered, and to be thrown into the eternal fires of hell? I hope these I am teachings of Jesus have enlightened us all to the truth of the Word of God. For according to Jesus’ final, I am teaching, “I am coming quickly”!

Our Father in heaven, continue to teach us as true end time enduring to the end believers in Jesus, believers in You Father, believers in the Holy Spirit of God, and true believers in Your Word, to desire to live godly lives with what is left of our lives and our time here on earth. May we truly exemplify the nature and character of Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior. In Him Always, Amen!
